Mac’s Convenience Stores Become ‘Pre-Paid’
OTTAWA, Ont. (January 2004)
Retail convenience giant Mac’s Convenience Stores
Inc. this month announced an agreement with EziPin Canada – Canada’s
premier Electronic Recharge and Prepaid solutions provider.
The Daisy Mart chain of stores - a 175 store National enterprise under
the Mac’s banner – will have fully operational EziPin terminals
installed over the next few weeks, adding to the rapidly expanding
national Ezipin network. Demand for a pre-paid,
non-credit and high convenience product for services including phone
cards, pre-paid cell phone and internet recharge, has reached an
international high. Mac’s Convenience Stores Inc. has recognized this
demand and the necessity to cater for this growing market.
Store owners have,“need(ed) an alternative to stock issues. The EziPin
terminal allows us to keep a full range of products that never run out
of stock. It’s all electronic with no cards, boxes of stock to store or
packaging or display problems. We can just print out a voucher with a
PIN at the point of sale.” CEO of EziPin Canada,
Trevor Cook has seen the demand for pre-paid services grow
internationally.
"From EziPin’s entry into the high tech Asia Pacific
Market in 1996, we have seen a growth of over 400 million pre-paid users
internationally. And as credit options and security become less
favourable, we are seeing a massive turn in the market to pre-paid
alternatives. We can now pre-pay cell phone use, internet, and even
bills, with no limit on the expansion of services the EziPin terminal
can cater for.” The Daisy Mart chain prides itself on
providing an efficient and cost effective service and the Manager of
Franchising, Rick Pasemko, recognizes the EziPin future-proof
opportunity. "EziPin were prepared to commit to
working with our Mac’s, Daisy Mart and Becker’s convenience stores when
other providers wouldn't customize to our needs."
"There is no doubt that the pre-paid market is a growing interest in our
services and it will certainly help our stores provide a more cost
effective and efficient service for our clientele.” |
